Legality as per the Indian Government

The Supreme Court of India has recognized Rummy as a game of skill rather than chance, distinguishing it from gambling. As a result, the activity of playing for money in a game of skill is protected under the Indian Constitution - Article 19[1]. (g).

However, the state laws of Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Assam, Sikkim, Nagaland, Meghalaya, and Telangana do not permit playing online rummy for real money.
